General Description Of EPDM O ring
EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is an elastomer which is characterized by wide range of applications and good chemical resistance.
Features Of EPDM O ring:
Good heat and compression resistance.
Resistant to ketones, hot and cold water, steam, alkalis, polar solvents, ozone, sunlight, alcohols, glycol engine coolant and Skydrol (phosphate ester hydraulic fluid).
Limitations Of EPDM O ring:
Not recommended for oils, gasoline, kerosene, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbon, halogenated solvents, concentrated acids, non-polar solvents, petroleum oils and aromatic fuels.
Service Temperature Of EPDM O ring:
-65o to 302o F (-54o to 150o C)
Ethlyene-Propylene, EP, En or EPDM
Ethlyene-propylene compounds are prepared from ethylene and propylene and usually a third monomer. These compounds are used frequently to seal phosphate ester fire resistant hydraulic fluids such as Skydrol. They are also very effective in brake systems, and for sealing hot water and steam. Ethylene-propylene compounds have good resistance to mild acids, alkalis, silicone oils and greases, ketones, and alcohols.
Advantages of EPDM O RING: • Excellent weather resistance • Good low temperature flexibility • Excellent chemical resistance • Good heat resistance Disadvantage: • Poor petroleum oil and solvent resis
